The GCSE is the national testing program for Secondary Schools included in the National Curriculum of England and Wales, normally occurring at the end of Year 11 (Key Stage 4). GCSE English includes both English Language GCSE and English Literature GCSE. GCSE English Language may involve students Although differences and variations may exist, GCSE English Language learning skills in writing, reading, speaking and listening, and for GCSE literature, students developing their understanding of poetry, drama and other areas of prose. may involve students learning about fictional and non-fictional texts, creative reading and writing, narrative and creative writing, and the use of standard English. GCSE English Literature may include the study of Shakespearean plays, poetry, modern texts and drama. It is advised that GCSE English should only be taught by teachers experienced in the GCSE program.
