GCSE History

Secondary School

The GCSE is the national testing program for Secondary Schools included in the National Curriculum of England and Wales, normally occurring at the end of Year 11 (Key Stage 4). GCSE History may involve learning in each of four modules: America 1840-1895 expansion and consolidation; Germany 1890- 1945 democracy and dictatorship; Russia 1894- 1956 tsardom and communism; America 1920-1973 opportunity and inequality. Although differences and variations may exist, studies in these modules may involve students investigating and learning about the economic, social, cultural and cultural aspects in each module, and the role of key individuals in affecting development and implementing change. It is advised that GCSE History should only be taught by teachers experienced in the GCSE program.
