Students participating in Peace Studies as a subject in the Earth Matters category can expect to be involved in discussions regarding possible key ways in which to reduce the level of tension between countries and possibly eliminate the need for endless wars and international conflict. Discussion could focus on the wars waged throughout history and the outcomes of these conflicts in terms of human happiness and prosperity. This could be followed up with references to the political structure of countries, and how war is always a political outcome used against a country's adversary to further indoctrinate the masses and reinforce the political agenda of the aggressor. The rise to power of famous dictators throughout history and their effect upon their country's population could also be discussed. The key point in this subject being that we should learn from history and not repeat its mistakes.
